RINGSIDE INTERVIEW
(AFTER THE COMPETITION IS OVER AND
PATRICIA WINS- INTERVIEWER ASKS QUESTIONS IN THE RING LIKE THE ANNOUNCER WOULD
DO AFTER A FIGHT)
Q.
INTERVIEWER
MRS. STEELE CONGRATULATIONS - DID
YOU THINK YOU WERE GOING TO WIN?
A.
PATRICIA
Yes, I never had a doubt for a
moment. This workout always produces a winner!
Q. INTERVIEWER
THE EARLY ROUNDS WERE A SLOW PACE
- WHAT'S YOUR STRATEGY?
A. PATRICIA
My goal was to start out slowly then
increase the intensity to work on my weak points. I also wanted to first get
familiar with all of the rountines before I picked up the pace.
Q. INTERVIEWER
YOU ARE IN FANTASTIC SHAPE - WHAT
IS YOUR DIET?
A. PATRICIA
Let's get one thing straight - I
don't like to use the word "diet". There is no magic or mystery to
losing weight - just stay away from fad diets, and eat sensibly. If you're
overweight eat less and if you are thin eat a little more. I eat a well-balanced
meal 3x a day that consists of vegetables and protein, light on the carbs and
sodium. I also eat fruit and fruit juice bars.
Q. INTERVIEWER
SO YOU WENT THE WHOLE DISTANCE OF
12 ROUNDS!> WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE ON
HOW OFTEN TO TRAIN FOR A COMPETITION LIKE THIS?
A. PATRICIA
I would start out at 2x a week
progressing to 3 or 4 times and then eventually train every day.
Q. INTERVIEWER
HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU THINK YOU
CAN DO THIS KIND OF INTENSE TRAINING AND HOLD ON TO THE TITLE?
A.
PATRICIA
Depending on how intensely you do it,
you can train from the age of 5 to 65 - I'm happy to say that I have a lot of
good years left. As far as holding
on to the title - I think it's mine keep!!!! (and anyone else who decides to
train with me...)
Q. INTERVIEWER
YOU SEEM SO FOCUSED AND
DISCIPLINED...ANY POINTERS FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THIS SPORT?
A.
PATRICIA
Absolutely, it's important to keep
the training motivating and fun and always, always focus on your goal.
